Engaging Little Learners: A Fun and Educational Piano Game
Hi Musical Friends!
Is it just me, or do your littlest students push your creativity the most? Keeping them engaged, motivated, and learning can be a challenge, but it's also incredibly rewarding when you find something that truly works.
One of the biggest challenges as a teacher is finding games that are both fun and educational—something that adds value to the lesson rather than just filling time. This week, I created a game inspired by my students working through the Little Mozart's series. While they aren’t reading on the staff just yet, they still need reinforcement with finger numbers, letters, and keyboard geography.
Introducing: Go Fish - Piano Edition!

Go Fish is a classic kids' card game that’s easy to understand and quick to play. What makes it even better is its flexibility—you can adapt the rules and adjust game length based on your lesson time. I tested this version with a few students this week, and it was an absolute hit! To make it even more versatile, I’ve included additional pages for students who are reading up to three ledger lines. You can customize the deck based on the student’s level by removing cards they aren’t ready for.
How to Get Set Up:
Print the file using double-sided printing.
If you're using it mainly for primer or pre-reading students, print extra copies of the key and letter cards to build a solid deck.
Laminating the cards will enhance durability and improve the game experience.
Full instructions on how to play the game are included in the file.

I’d love to hear how it goes with your students! Let me know your thoughts and if you make any modifications to fit your teaching style.
Happy teaching!
