Step-by-Step Instructions for Using the Chart
1. Start with C Major at the Top
It has no sharps or flats—the perfect reference point.
Write numbers 1 to 7 below it to track how many sharps/flats each key has.
At the bottom, write C# and Cb (C appears at both the top and bottom).
2. Fill in the Remaining Keys Using Two Methods:
🔹 Method 1: The Fifths Method
Moving clockwise (right side) → Each key is a perfect fifth above the previous key (sharp keys).
Moving counterclockwise (left side) → Each key is a perfect fifth below (flat keys).
Hint: Sharps move higher, flats move lower.
🔹 Method 2: The "Father Charles" Phrase
Use Father Charles Goes Down And Ends Battle to memorize sharp keys.
Reverse it (Battle Ends And Down Goes Charles’ Father) for flat keys.
You'll repeat the phrase once you reach the enharmonic keys at the bottom.
